OUTING TO CONKERS

Posted by Janet on May 8, 2015 at 4:30 AM

19 children, six parents and 4 staff set off to Conkers on Thursday.  We were met by a Ranger and taken straight in to board the train to Waterside and start our activities.  We started off outside on our Teddy Bear's Grand Adventure, but the heavens opened and we had to retreat to a classroom to finish our story.  Fortunately the rain didn't last long and we started our walk through the woods looking for the trees in the story and finding Teddy Bears hidden arou...

Spring Walks!

Posted by Janet on March 12, 2015 at 3:05 PM

Take a look at our Facebook page to see some new photos of our walks this week - we've seen horses, ponies, geese, chickens, sheep and pigs.  We visited the lambing sheds and saw some new born lambs. We've been to school, jumped in puddles, played pooh sticks and generally had a wonderful time out and about in the village.

JUMPING JELLYBEANS

Posted by Janet on May 11, 2014 at 11:40 AM

Another exciting trip to Jumping Jellybeans. The bus driver was very helpful again and once all the seat belts were done up off we went to Melton Mowbray.  Excitement was high when we reached Jumping Jellybeans and once the shoes were off, all the children disappeared into the play area - so did most of the staff!!  For the next hour, they didn't stop running - hence the photos are not that good quality as they were hard to pin down.  Drinks were available throug...

Easter Service Tuesday 9th April, 2014

Posted by Janet on April 8, 2014 at 10:55 AM

We joined with Scalford C of E Primary School today for their Easter songs and Service.  Our children opened the event with their rendering of Chick, Chick, Chicken and were in good voice today being heard right at the back of the church.  Laying their eggs brought a smile to everyone's face!! They all sat beautifully during the rest of the service, which was a long time for small people to sit still.  Well done to...

Museum Visit

Posted by Janet on April 8, 2014 at 10:50 AM

Off we all went on the bus to Melton Mowbray to visit the Melton Carnegie Museum.  The bus driver and all the other passengers were very helpful and we got to the museum in plenty of time for our visit.  The saxon lady under glass in the floor caused lots of discussion and some couldn't wait to see the two headed calf.  Also very popular was playing dominoes in the pub!!!  The museum curator was very complimentary about the children's behaviour, as were some...

SPORT RELIEF WEEK

The children have been jumping all week for Sport Relief.  We have jumped on our walk, seen how far and how high we can jump and how many jumps we can do in a minute.  Have a look at the photos in our gallery - and no Mary wasn't having a lay down - she was measuring how far the children had jumped, lol!!!  The furthest jump was 30 cms and the most in a minute was 65 jumps.  Well done to all the children and thank you to everyone for sponsorship and taking part in our shee...

What a Star

Posted by Janet on January 23, 2014 at 4:40 PM

Thursday, 19th December 2013 - Our annual nativity play was held at preschool, entitled 'What a Star'.  All the chlldren took part and were absolutely brilliant singing and dancing along to all the songs.  There were a couple of solo performances and a few tears were shed by some of the parents - as well as the staff - who also performed a song with their guitars as the Scalfordettes - a new career perhaps!!  Everyone enjoyed coffee and mince pies afterwards before breaking up ...

Walking to The Willows

Posted by Janet on June 3, 2013 at 3:45 PM

What a glorious morning.  Twelve children and four staff set off from the bottom of Ironstone Lane to walk to Barney's house in warm sunshine.  Joanna had driven down the lane earlier and shut the gates, just to slow down any traffic that may pass us, but in reality, we only saw 3 cars, one being the postman and one tractor.  Of course, some children wanted to climb over the gate so well done to all those that managed it.  We stopped in the lane further up f...
